Balance Healing Center is officially introducing our Life Therapy services, mind-body treatments and counseling to help you keep stress to a minimum.
While emotional and mental health is important, that is not why we are expanding beyond bodywork.
Over the past 15 years, we have found that while you can release stress and physical pain by releasing the muscles, sometimes you cannot sustain this relief without addressing your mind's influence. Your thoughts and emotions are just as much to blame for physical discomfort as your tight muscles.
So what do you do when the cause is not physical?
The most common approach is talk therapy. You may not want to talk about it. Or you tried and not found the depth of relief you hoped for. Some people feel safer with a more alternative and holistic approach. This is where Life Therapies can help. They are mind and body awareness therapies that identify and address the physical and mental manifestation of stress.
Life Therapies are more than talk therapy and more than bodywork; they are both.

For the first 10 years of my massage career, I was an aggressive, deep tissue therapist. I dug into my clients’ tissues until they cried "uncle" in order to release their physical issues. It left me exhausted and drained by the end of each day. And I’d still return to the same problem during their next appointment. Needing a way to save my body from long term wear and tear and better help my clients, I ventured into Craniosacral Therapy. What I learned changed how I do massage and how I work with clients off the table. Here’s the big news flash; it’s your issue, not mine. Your central nervous system has to release the tissue, not me. It is my job to help you feel what is causing the issue and teach you how to release it. Sometimes this is physical. Sometimes it is mental or emotional. I don't decide. I simply translate what your body is saying. When you participate in a release on this level, your awareness increases. Your ability to release on your own improves and your body heals. You learn how to prevent the issue from happening again, making life less of a struggle. Wouldn’t that be nice? It is - just ask my clients.
